Mark Hughes, P.Eng., CFEI

Management Team

Mark founded and heads up one of the largest forensic engineering firms in Western Canada.  As a forensic engineer, Mark has earned a reputation of being able to understand and provide insight into complex litigation as well as showing a fundamental understanding of insurance issues related to a variety of losses (both plaintiff and defense). Mark also has many interests outside of forensic engineering, in particular volleyball and photography. Mark was instrumental in the development and construction of the GO Centre (now the Saville Community Sports Centre) at the University that provides a home for volleyball, basketball and gymnastics organizations.  Mark actively volunteers on a number of other non-profit organizations including the Fire Investigation Association of Alberta, the Edmonton Volleyball Association, the Edmonton Volleyball Centre Society and as President of the Go Community Centre.  Mark is an avid photographer taking on a variety of subject matter including wildlife, landscapes and portraits. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Co-operative) from the University of Alberta, Mark began practicing in the field of forensic engineering (before the practice of forensic engineering had a name). Mark has co-authored a number of peer reviewed papers and has qualified as a forensic engineer in a several different technical areas in a number of different jurisdictions with over 22 appearances as an expert witness.

Most unusual job - Election campaign manager.

Hidden talent - I used to play saxophone.

With a month off to do any job in the world - I’d go on a safari in Africa photographing animals.
