Forensic Engineer - Accident Reconstruction

March 6, 2018

An accident has occurred. Damages are significant and the occupants have sustained injuries. It’s a classic case of he said, she said. But who was responsible? The evidence lies in front of you. And the stakes are high. You can be part of the team that finds answers in the evidence.

CEP Sintra is a forensic engineering firm serving insurance and legal clients in Canada with offices in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, and Moncton. We aren’t your typical engineering firm and forensic engineering isn’t your typical engineering practice. Our firm is growing and looking to add an engineer to our Accident Reconstruction group in our Edmonton office. This group assists clients in determining liability in a collision scenario by weighing the evidence and analyzing the collision circumstances. We are looking for someone who desires to be the best and seeks to be highly regarded for their expertise in this specialized investigative area.

You:

  • Are a mature, well-organized, self-motivated professional.
  • Enjoy solving technical puzzles using a combination of observation, deductive reasoning, and engineering first principles.
  • Are capable of communicating your findings in clearly written reports.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a complimentary engineering discipline and are registered as a P. Eng. in Alberta.
  • Have 4 to 7 years of working experience in an engineering related field.
  • Are familiar with physics related to dynamics, kinematics, work, energy, momentum and restitution.
  • Have experience and familiarity with motor vehicles, motorcycles, trucks, and/or off-road vehicles.
  • Have drafting and/or surveying experience (considered an asset).
  • Are comfortable managing client relationships through the life of a file and have excellent communication skills.

The job entails:

  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team investigating the technical aspects of collision related insurance losses.
  • Resolving the puzzles that surround these incidents by conducting thorough evaluations of the scene, collected physical evidence and damage to vehicles involved.
  • Managing your own projects from start to finish including technical and financial aspects.

We offer:

  • A strong corporate culture based on collaboration, respect, effective communications, teamwork, and continuous learning.
  • An excellent compensation package that includes a competitive salary, minimum of three weeks holidays per year, extended medical, dental, life insurance, and employer matching RRSP plan.
  • The opportunity for you to have a dramatic effect on the performance of the company acting as a trusted advisor to our clients.
